The OpenData hub is a web service used to prop up data that is publicly accessible and available for download on the web. The OpenData hub is an app built through ArcGIS Hubs (ArcGIS Hub). Greeley GIS Data Portal is hosted through the city's ArcGIS Online organizational account due to the availability of the OpenData hub platform on AGO, as well as the synchronous updates. The hub works through a distributed collaboration (About distributed collaboration—Portal for ArcGIS | Documentation for ArcGIS Enterprise) that is established between the city's ArcGIS Online and ArcGIS Portal. The collaboration is one way, which means that data can be shared from the Portal to AGO, but not the other way around. The distributed collaboration is managed and hosted by the Portal, and can be modified via the organizational settings in the Portal.
In order to share data through the OpenData hub, follow the steps below:
- Sign into Portal as Portal Admin.
- Publish the data to the City of Greeley's Portal as a feature service. Ensure the feature layer is enabled when publishing.
- Fill out all necessary metadata and item details for the feature service and share the feature service publicly.
- Add the feature layer to the "Open Data: Portal to AGO" group on Portal. This is the group connected to AGO via distributed collaboration.
- This should populate the data in the ArcGIS Online group "City of Greeley, Colorado - Open GIS Data Content." (This may take a minute for the sync.)
- When the content is in the ArcGIS Online group, it is available to view and/or download through Greeley's GIS Data Portal.
Items can be managed on the hub via specific tags (boundaries, business, greeleycommunity, education, health, housing, mobility). The hub can also be edited directly from the site if you are signed in as an AGO admin.
